Amina Boubia is a political science professor at Rabat International University specialising in culture and politics in the MENA. She earned her PhD in political science from Sciences Po Paris as a PhD fellow of the German Heinrich Böll Foundation with a dissertation on the political dynamics around music festivals in Morocco. Prior to joining UIR, Amina worked in journalism and philanthropy in Morocco, France, and the UK. In addition, she was a Research associate at Sciences Po’s Centre for International Studies (CERI), and a London-based arts development consultant working on events showcasing Arabic culture in the UK. Her article “Music, politics, and ‘organic artists’ during the Arab Spring: Contention vs status quo in Tunisia and Morocco” appeared in the Middle East Journal of Culture and Communication. She also published on “‘Artivism’ in the Arab world: A major driving force towards democracy” (IEMed Mediterranean Yearbook).
