Maritxu Alonso is a researcher at the Department of Art History and Musicology at the University of Oviedo, where she is developing her doctoral thesis on punk and feminism. She is part of the Grupo de Investigación en Música Contemporánea de España y Latinoamérica Diapente XXI (GIMCEL) and she is attached to the R+D+i Project / Knowledge Generation – Música y medios audiovisuales en España: creación, mediación y negociación de significados – MusMAE. Maritxu is a social educator and philologist specializing in Spanish cinema and literature from the eighties. Her research has focused on the linguistic analysis of the lyrics of the punk band Desechables, zines and the punk activity carried out by womxn in the Spanish state. Since 2013 she has coordinated Uterzine, an initiative that makes non-normative punk identities visibl, which is also a DIY label.
