In this Podcast#4, we talked with Vítor Rua. Multifaceted and prolific musician, Vítor Rua forces an interview in two parts: in the second one, Paula Guerra will exchange words with the rock persona of Vítor Rua II; in this first one, Paulo Gusmão Guedes tries to approach his production in the area of contemporary music, improvised or written, including post-rock or post-jazz expressions, convenient words to (not) describe a music that has its own indescribable quality. For that very reason, we quote and link below (Spotify or Youtube), in the same order in which they are addressed in the interview, the works that Vítor Rua chooses to represent key moments in his career, as well as others of which he is the author and that he mentions throughout a conversation that is anything but linear, and also because of that more interesting. As we also talk about other music – Toy and Hildegarda de Bingen, Stockhausen and Monk, Zappa and Zorn, Vangelis and Terterian – we also take the opportunity to include links to the works of these two last ones that are highly praised by Vítor Rua.
Happy listening and happy discoveries.
