KISMIF CONFERENCE AMBASSADOR: Dino d’Santiago
Dino’s work makes it possible to discuss the changes in contemporary Portuguese identities because it allows for the validation and (re)signification of urban languages that were previously unclassified, often created in peripheral, segregated and ghettoised contexts. It’s a proposal based on mixing, diversity, participation and collaboration. But it is also a project of visibility, reparation and representation. Dino’s presence is a fundamental dimension of Portuguese culture today. And perhaps there is no more consequential strategy than to use music as an expressive way of displaying this presence and thinking about blackness – not as an Other – but as creative dancing bodies involved in practices of creation, production and cultural dissemination. And then you can’t stop dancing! And research!
Dino will be participating with a talk and a showcase at KISMIF Conference.
